Matted Coat Grooming Consent & Risk Acknowledgement
Matting locations

WHY SPECIAL CONSENT IS REQUIRED

Tightly matted coats can pull on the skin, trap moisture and conceal irritation, sores or existing injuries. Removing mats may require clipping very close to the skin. This can be more difficult and higher risk than routine grooming, particularly when a dog moves or skin is caught within the matting.

RISKS I UNDERSTAND

I understand that matted-coat removal may involve:

• Small cuts, nicks or lacerations, especially around thin or folded skin (including flanks, ears, armpits and groin).

• Clipper irritation, redness, razor/clipper burn, sensitivity or licking/scratching after clipping.

• Discovery of previously hidden sores, bruising, parasites or skin conditions; temporary uneven or very short coat length.

• Stress or discomfort during handling; the groom may need to be paused or stopped for safety.
